What We Believe

We as Baptist insisted upon freedom of though and expression in the pulpit and pew. This has made us one of the most democratic church bodies in the World. We have insisted upon the absolute autonomy of the local congregation; we arrange our own worship, examine and baptize our own members. There is no age limit set on membership, but the candidate is usually of such age that he can understand and accept the teachings of Christ. Candidates for the ministry are licensed by us and ordained upon recommendation of a group of sister churches. Doctrinally we stand for the infallibility of the Scriptures; God as Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power; Christ as the eternal and only begotten Son of God, his sinlessness life, virgin birth, atonement, resurrection, and ascension. The sinfulness of all men and the possibility of their regeneration, sanctification, and comfort through Christ and the Holy Spirit; the church as the living body of Christ, with Him as head; the local church as free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; the responsibility of every human being to God alone; and the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
